NOTICE OF SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING OF THE VOTERS OF THE MORRISVILLE-EATON CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

 

NOTICE OF SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING

OF THE VOTERS OF THE

MORRISVILLE-EATON CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

 

                THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE MORRISVILLE-EATON CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that pursuant to a Resolution adopted by the Board of Education of the District on November 14, 2023, a Special meeting of the qualified voters of said School District will be held at the E.R. Andrews Elementary School Gymnasium located at 55 Eaton Street, Morrisville, New York on January 16, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., prevailing time, for the purpose of voting on the following proposition:

 

PROPOSITION

 

             Shall the Morrisville-Eaton Central School District be authorized to donate to the Town of Eaton a parcel of land not needed for school purposes consisting of approximately 7.5 acres located on Eaton Street, Village of Morrisville, County of Madison, identified as a portion of tax map parcel #123.7-1-7 to be used by the Town of Eaton for the development of a community park.

            

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that qualified voters of the District may obtain applications for an absentee ballot from the office of the Clerk of the District. Completed applications must be received by the Clerk of the District no later than 4:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024 if the voter will personally receive the ballot and must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter.  A listing of all persons to whom an absentee ballot is issued will be available for inspection by any qualified voter in the office of the Clerk of the District between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. through January 15, 2024, except on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. 

 

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that military ballots may be applied for by qualified voters by requesting an application from the District Clerk at (315) 684-9300 or smith.catherine@m-ecs.org.  Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on December 26, 2023.  In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail.  An individual will qualify as a military voter if he or she (1) is a qualified voter of the State of New York, who is in active military service, and by reason of such military service is absent from the District on the day of the election, or is a voter who is discharged from military service within 30 days of an election; or (2) a spouse, parent, child, or dependent of such service member who is a qualified voter and is absent due to accompanying or being with the military service member.

 

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that applications for early mail and absentee ballots for the vote may be applied for at the office of District Clerk. A list of all persons to whom absentee early mail and ballots shall have been issued, will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote except Sundays, and such list will also be posted at the polling place or places for the vote.

 

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Board of Education of the Morrisville-Eaton Central School District has previously complied with the requirements of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (the “SEQRA Act”), Article 8 of the Environmental Conservation Law, as amended, and the Regulations of the Department of Environmental Conservation thereunder (the “Regulations”).  No further action under the SEQRA Act and Regulations is required.
