Animal Control

Any calls regarding dogs please call the office of the Town Clerk first.   (315) 684-8051.

This way the Clerk can help identify the Dog and who the owners are and we field the calls to the Dog Control Officer.   It also allows us to determine who should be called IE.  DEC, DCO, ASPCA.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Will I get a new tag for my dog every year?

No, your dog keeps the same tag upon licensing.

What if my dog gets lost?

Call our Dog Control Officer. Each dog tag has a unique number which we track in our dog licensing system that identifies that the dog belongs to you. If the dog is lost and someone finds the dog or the Dog Control Officer finds the dog, they will call us and we can reunite you and your dog.

What happens if I lose my dog tag?

Replacement tags are available at a cost of $3.00

What happens if I find a lost or stray dog?

First, call the Town Office at (315) 684-8051 or  Dog Control Officer Dan Hilts at (315) 750-6946.  Please be careful when handling a dog that is unknown to you and your family. Our goal is to reunite dogs with their families. You can also post on Social Media which is a good way to reach out. Please keep in mind that a family may be looking for their beloved dog, so calling the Town is the best way to increase the chance of reuniting them.
